Setting out on your own and planning to rent your first apartment in Barcelona? What is needed is a beforehand thought about what you want, and what you wish your apartment to be like. Is your requirement a furnished apartment, or would you be able to furnish the apartment yourself? Would you like an apartment with all utilities needed or is it possible for you to have utilities in your name? A stove, refrigerator and dishwasher are appliances that have to be thought about in advance. Do you already have them or would these items form a part of your first apartment’s rent deal? It is always an exciting idea - renting your first apartment! It means that you are ready to set out by yourself, have your own home to care for, and enjoy greater freedom. Time is required to perform other household chores now that you are on your own.

It might be a good idea to jot down a few questions to be asked to the property manager, when you begin your search for your first apartment, as this may avoid unnecessary hassle of wasting time looking at apartments that may not particularly suit your needs. Before scheduling an appointment, you can ask for information about the apartment, so as to avoid botheration as well as disappointment later. Surely, you do not want to waste time looking at the apartment if it does not meet your requirements. It is only after getting satisfactory answers to your questions, should you decide to have a look at the apartment.

Bear in mind the fact that in a rented apartment the first time over; things may not be just as nice as they were in your home. This is generally the case with first time renters. Renting a ‘moderate’ apartment may give you a chance to make it a showcase inside, even when the outside may have a lot to be desired. Certainly, you would not like to over spend on rent payments.

You need to consider many other aspects too, like - utilities, food, clothing, car expenses or transportation costs and necessaries such as insurances. Soon, you may realize that your first apartment is similar to everything else. It is possibly not something that you would settle for, but remember it is ‘the first’; one of a few others you will have in a line, before you marry or before you are ready to buy a home of your own.
